Happy March to you and your students! Spring is on the way, and Daylight Savings Time starts this month (March 10). We are eagerly awaiting longer, brighter and warmer days! In this month’s newsletter, you will find resources on Women’s History, nutrition & health, St. Patrick’s Day, and more.

News & Announcements

Educational Subscriptions Opportunity: Coming soon! We will be rolling out an exclusive teacher only, full access digital subscription to enhance your lesson plans; includes unlimited access to the newspaper’s website, mobile apps and the eEdition.  This educational subscription will be discounted at over 90% off the regular subscription rate and available exclusively to teachers. When available, the offer will be located in your account under the   “Read Today’s Paper” tab.

Important: Affidavits will be sent the first week of April. Be on the lookout for the email which will come from Please make sure you put this email address on your “safe” list, and make sure this information is passed along to your school or district IT department.

We would appreciate you confirming the affidavit as soon as you receive it. Be sure that you check your spam or junk folder if you happen not to see it in your inbox. Remember, responding to this notice is a requirement for all teachers enrolled in the NIE program and is done as part of our end-of school year reporting and auditing.

WomensHistoryGuideWomen’s History Month. Our Women’s History Month Guide provides biographies of 45 historic women celebrating their accomplishments. You can also check out the Mothers of Invention supplement, which highlights several staple products that were all invented by women, and Girls Can Lead the Way, a lesson resource on what it takes to be a leader, increase self-confidence and be smart about money. Find all of these resources here.

National Nutrition Month. 

Nutrition doesn’t have to be a chore – show your students how fun it can be to eat healthy! Empower them to make healthy choices with our lesson plans on nutrition. Our Food Savvy guide is a good start to learning about the pitfalls of poor diet and lack of exercise with information on how to make the best choices for a lifetime of good health. Our variety of health supplements will help you educate your students on the many benefits of healthy eating, including the most important one – feeling great!

Special March Dates 

March 8 – International Women’s Day.

This day commemorates the movement for women’s rights as a civil awareness and anti-sexism day. Use our supplement, Girls Can Lead the Way, with the girls in your class to empower and celebrate them while they learn about being a leader and more.

March 10 – Daylight Savings Time starts.

Don’t forget to set your manual clocks (car, oven, microwave, electronics, etc.) an hour forward tonight. We lose an hour of sleep, but more sunshine is certainly a good trade!


March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day.

Visit History’s St. Patrick’s Day – Origins, Facts, Celebrations, Traditions to learn all about St. Patrick, the traditions and customs surrounding the holiday, why we celebrate, food, parades, and more.


March 20 – First Day of Spring.
