Congratulations to our 2017 Math Hoops Champions!
Math Hoops, presented by The Sacramento Bee’s NIE program and the Sacramento Kings, is a fast-paced basketball board game that allows students to enhance their math skills in a fun and interactive format using the game of basketball and NBA players.
For the 2016-2017 program, over 62 teachers and 900 students participated from schools and after school programs throughout the Sacramento region.
The Math Hoops Tournament took place on Thursday, March 23 at the Golden 1 Center. 32 teams/64 students played until the final four were announced. The final four teams were from Butler Elementary (Elk Grove), Joseph Sims Elementary (Elk Grove), and Woodlake Elementary (Sacramento).
It was an exciting evening, which culminated as the students from Joseph Sims Elementary were crowned champions! Congratulations the winning students and their teacher, Erica Yee.
Thanks also to all the teachers and students that participated in this program!
